The Campus is a first-of-its-kind adaptive reuse retail development project in Malaysia, a legacy building of the previous ISKL campus. It boasts 140,000 square feet of retail space spread across four floors, and it's designed to attract over 600,000 Malaysians within a 10-minute radius. More importantly, The Campus preserved much-loved community-building elements such as a swimming pool, football field, multipurpose halls, and more, providing a truly unique community retail experience. The Campus is a joint venture between Ukay Builders Sdn Bhd & Mega First Corporation Berhad. It's expected to open its doors in Q4 of 2024.
An Old School Given Fresh Ideas
Paying homage to its historical site as a renowned international school, ISKL, built in 1976, The Campus stands as an adaptive reuse development. It seamlessly incorporates critical structures and elements from the previous site, offering Ampangites unique enrichment beyond a typical shopping mall. From a campus-sized football field and swimming pool to a large multi-purpose hall and auditorium, The Campus introduces family-oriented activities through specialised tenants like Amare Dancing School and Kid's Nation, promising Ampang's community educative and enriching experiences. The Mutiara International Grammar School, located right beside The Campus, aims to deliver a world-class learning experience based on IGCSE examinations to further enrich the youth.
"We believe that a key factor in creating a successful adaptive reuse project is preserving the elements people love about the previous site while adding new characteristics for the new communities that will visit. These projects should not be about throwing away history. They are about adapting, redefining, and making things relevant again and for them to serve a new purpose - to nourish the mind, body, and soul," - Datuk Yee Kong Fatt, Managing Director of Ukay Builders Sdn Bhd.
At the Centre of A Bustling Network
Positioned in the epicentre of Ampang, with a middle to upper-middle immediate community catchment of 77,155 people within a 5-minute drive, 657,893 people within a 10-minute drive, and 1,333,688 people within a 15-minute drive, The Campus is also easily accessible to a wider community via SUKE, AKHLEH, and MRR2 Highways. Only 5 minutes from KLCC, 20 minutes from Cheras, and 15 minutes from Gombak, it's also adjacent to Mutiara International Grammar School, forming a readily available community of parents, teachers, and students.
A Curated Approach to Retailing
The Campus also aims to revolutionise retail through a thoughtfully curated community-first tenant strategy. The Campus houses some of the best Malaysian tenants, each contributing a unique character and charm to the community-focused environment. The anchor tenant is a premium grocer, QRA, which will open their largest store in Malaysia. The mall will also house celebrated Malaysian F&B brands, such as the Michelin Guide restaurant Dancing Fish, with their first store outside of Bangsar and the well-known matcha speciality brand Niko Neko Matcha. While apparel & lifestyle brands like Kapten Batik, Sueka Sueka, and Nala celebrate local communities, creating a diverse tapestry of offerings. Finally, the Campus will also be home to a slew of community-driven services, such as a pharmacy, dental clinic, fitness and physiotherapy, optometrist and a money changer.
