Straits Interactive, a regional leader in AI and Data Governance, today signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with HELP University, a leading institution in Malaysia’s higher education landscape, to introduce generative AI training and technology for business professionals across Malaysia, furthering the country's AI adoption goals.
Partnership Direction
This partnership seeks to bolster the competencies of local talent through AI-enabling training and business services. It aligns with Malaysia’s AI Talent Roadmap 2024-2030 and aims to meet the growing demand for AI skills in both educational and professional sectors.
Straits Interactive and HELP University will collaborate across multiple areas, including joint training programs and academic research to enhance competencies in AI and data protection and governance. This includes the promotion of knowledge sharing and opportunities for international certifications.
Education & Technology
Together, they will offer courses, workshops, and forums designed to raise awareness and impart skills in generative AI, data protection, and governance risk and compliance (GRC). To this end, AI tutors targeting these areas will be developed and deployed to augment teachers’ capabilities, enhance the quality of education and provide on-demand assistance for students and working adults.
They will be available on Straits Interactive’s state-of-the-art generative AI platform, Capabara, that enables non-technical users to effectively leverage a range of Large Language Models (LLMs) for immediate productivity boosts in a secure environment. The platform is built with three considerations: Safety, where chat histories are not used to train the model; Security, where the proprietary data that AI apps are built on are governed in a closed container; and Sustainability, where the platform is AI model-agnostic and requires no technical skill to create AI tools.
"This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our mission to empower Malaysian talent and organisations with cutting-edge AI tools and training in support of the country’s National AI Roadmap. By pairing our expertise with HELP University, we aim to accelerate the country's workforce transformation into a more tech-savvy and highly productive talent pool to fuel AI adoption in organisations for economic growth. It is intended to build momentum in the development of Malaysia’s digital and AI ecosystems to achieve their strategic objectives for AI,” said Alvin Toh, Co-founder of Straits Interactive.
No Coding Knowledge Required
With training and technology combined, working professionals with zero knowledge of generative AI or no coding experience will be able to immediately build useful custom AI tools in various job functions and deploy them safely within organisational processes. All this, without the complications and cost of internal AI adoption, and the privacy risks that some methods of AI adoption bring with them.
This is the main goal of the Capabara platform as well, which is ultimately a comprehensive Capability-as-a-Service solution for organisations to develop, govern and manage digital transformation goals while ensuring the ethical and responsible use of generative AI and protecting privacy. In other words, both the training and software are designed with safe enterprise adoption of generative AI in mind.
Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan, Chancellor, President and Co-founder of HELP University shares his anticipation of this collaboration, stating, "HELP University recognises the critical role and relevance of AI in education and training, especially for the development of the AI talent pool to sustain the growth of the Nation. The portfolio of AI courses is up-to-date in contents, and the pedagogy is tested in various learning environments. It offers
a comprehensive review and has the relevant specialisms to address the specific needs of individuals and corporations. This collaboration with Straits Interactive is part of our strategic partnership with quality institutions to offer fit-for-purpose education and training courses for Malaysians.”
Straits Interactive and HELP University are committed to leading the charge in AI in Malaysia and supporting the upskilling of business professionals in Malaysia. This partnership not only underscores both parties’ innovative spirit but also their dedication to preparing Malaysia’s workforce with skill sets for better productivity in a future augmented with AI.
