Taipei City Government Leads Delegation to Taiwan Expo 2025 in Malaysia

In response to the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI), big data applications, and ESG sustainability in Malaysia, the Taipei City Government is leading a trade delegation of 14 distinguished companies to participate in the “AI-Driven, Future Taipei” Pavilion at Taiwan Expo 2025. Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from June 23 to 25, the Pavilion is anchored by two core themes: Smart Technology and Sustainability. These themes not only highlight Taipei's industrial innovation but also serve as one of the event's premier attraction.

The Pavilion features a wide range of AI-powered and eco-friendly technologies. Key innovations include: New Smart Technology’s AI inspection and edge computing systems tailored for the automotive, semiconductor, and optics industries; Freedom Systems’s managed cybersecurity services that boost business efficiency; and NetioTechnologies’s AI-driven industrial IIoT solutions designed to accelerate digital transformation for enterprises.

Additional exhibits extend across a broad spectrum of industries, featuring recyclable diamond shape face masks by Motex Healthcare, FPF low-carbon cycle fully degradable biocomposite material from the Taiwan Plants Fiber Tech Alliance, anti-microbial white-light LED lighting from Gtech Solutions, wearable telemetry IOT systems developed by Biosensetek, noise-cancelling Bluetooth headsets from ible Technology, high-speed data erasers by U-Reach, comprehensive facial recognition tracking by AIRA Corporation, fall detection edge AI devices from Yun-X Tek, magnetic external SSDs from Datotek International, high-brightness LED POP signage displays from Maxpower System, and real-time AI translators offered by Toplink Information.

To maximize visibility for the Pavilion, a robust pre-event marketing campaign was carried out on various Malaysian social media platforms. The opening day was marked by a launch ceremony graced by Erin Hung, Subdivision Chief of the Hi-Tech Promotion Center under the Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development (DOED), as well as representatives from MATRADE, PIKOM, and Director Vanessa Chang of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). The Pavilion received notable media attention, highlighted by coverage from Malaysia’s leading Chinese-language TV news channel, 8TV, and the widely-read online news source Malaysiakini.

Running from June 23 to 25, the Pavilion provides one-on-one business matchmaking sessions and daily activities that highlight Taipei’s key industries and favourable investment environment. Product presentations will also be conducted to further enhance the experience, opening doors for participating businesses to build valuable connections and expand their networks.

KIWACERT and TAR UMT Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance ESG and Sustainability Education in Malaysia

MoA signing ceremony signals a bold step forward for ESG capacity building.

KIWA International Certifications (M) Sdn Bhd (KIWACERT) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to collaborate on advancing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainability education in Malaysia.

The MoA, signed at TAR UMT’s main campus, signifies a strategic partnership that combines academic excellence with industry leadership. This collaboration aims to equip professionals, students, and business leaders with the knowledge and certification needed to implement responsible and sustainable practices across industries.

Through this partnership, KIWACERT and TAR UMT will co-develop and deliver the Exemplar Global Certified ESG & Sustainability Practitioner (CESP) Programme, designed to elevate Malaysia’s ESG literacy and professional standards. This certification programme—endorsed by industry experts and aligned with international frameworks—will be open to working professionals, graduates, and corporate teams looking to strengthen their ESG competencies.

“We believe this collaboration is a timely response to the rising demand for ESG-integrated decision-making. With TAR UMT’s academic strength and KIWACERT’s certification expertise, we aim to nurture a new generation of ESG practitioners who will lead the way in responsible business transformation,” said Dr Kenny Chan Teik Ken, Managing Director of KIWACERT.

Echoing this sentiment, President of TAR UMT, Prof. Datuk Indera Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei and Vice president Prof. Dr. Loke Chui Fong expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “TAR UMT is proud to play a role in building national ESG capacity. Our goal is to empower our students and professionals with the tools and knowledge to drive long-term sustainability in both the public and private sectors.”

The collaboration also includes industry engagement sessions, public ESG webinars, and a pathway for students and professionals to pursue certifications that enhance career readiness and corporate governance alignment.

This MoA aligns with Malaysia’s broader national sustainability goals, including the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP) and commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It further supports government and industry efforts to embed ESG principles into everyday operations, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

The ceremony was witnessed by senior leaders from both organisations, faculty members, and invited guests from various sectors. The event concluded with a joint commitment to expand future initiatives under the ESG banner—ensuring that Malaysian institutions remain competitive and values-driven in a global landscape.
