Influential Brands named Nurul Izzah Anwar as their “Influential Woman of the Year” at the 6th edition of 2018 CEO Asia Summit held at the Marriott Hotel Tang Plaza, Singapore.
The Summit, with the theme “Women in Leadership and Technology”, was held in partnership with Technology partner, AWS and supportive partners Huawei, and Kenn Foundation.
“Nurul Izzah Anwar is recognised for her enduring contribution to the promotion of democracy and justice.
“Her advocacy work spanning more than 19 years is prominent and impactful for society and is exemplary for many communities in Asia.
“Apart from being a skilful public speaker and advocate of a respected cause, her approach narrates an endearing story of humility, hard work, tenacity, and passion, which is very much congruent with many of our business leaders and Top CEOs,” said Influential Brands managing director Jorge Rodriguez.
Nurul Izzah Anwar expressed her gratefulness and said: " I can only accept the Influential Woman of the Year award in the hopes that it would lead to further empowerment of women everywhere - especially strong Malaysian women, of various colors, vocation, and creed - in pursuit of reforms, for a better and more progressive Malaysia.
“The ordinary men and women of Malaysia constantly inspire me to push for reforms, and it is to them this honour truly belongs. Our influence is only as relevant as our ability to empower the voiceless."
The Summit culminated in the presentation of “The Champions of Excellence” in Asia recognising Asia’s most-coveted “Top Influential Brands”.
Some 380 prominent C-suite executives from over 100 leading companies across the region including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Phillipines and China attended the event.
“This year, we are delighted to celebrate C-Suite Executives from 4 ASEAN nations: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines.
“I would like to congratulate all the winners for their exceptional and exemplary leadership in their respective companies, industries and communities.
“Representing Malaysia, we are delighted to recognise the efforts of Joel Neoh as Top Influential CEO in view of its outstanding leadership and business growth in Asia,” Rodriguez added.
A total of 41 brands were awarded “Top Influential Brands” including 11 Top Brands from Malaysia including Sunway Pyramid and Guardian for retail category, Happy Fresh for online category and Sharp for consumer electronics.
This year, the scope of Asia’s Top Influential Brands award was expanded to cover over 100 categories, ranging from food and beverage (F&B) and fast - moving consumer goods (FMCG), to financial services and online brands.
To determine Asia’s Top Influential Brands, Influential Brands conducted a survey in collaboration with its partners across Asia to identify the consumer preference from one particular group of customers - women within the age group 26-50 years old – who were selected as study group due to their high degree of influence and purchasing power.
More than 4,000 consumers were surveyed using a combination of face-to-face and online surveys to assess brand preference and top-of-brand recall.
