KUALA LUMPUR, 3 SEPTEMBER 2022 – Touch ‘n Go Group was awarded ‘Company of the Year’ under the fintech and digital payment services category for community well-being initiatives at the recent Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2022. The award serves as a recognition of the Group’s commitment in reaching out to the communities in need and cultivating sustainable efforts with non-governmental organisations.
While 2021 was a challenging year for most Malaysians with ongoing lockdowns due to the pandemic, Touch ‘n Go Group took the opportunity to refine its CSR priorities strategically to meet the needs of local communities while addressing targets linked to the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goals. The Group’s strategic focus areas encompass empowering the differently-abled; inclusion of B40 and underbanked communities; and promoting responsible consumption.
Driven by these priorities, Touch ‘n Go Group contributed substantially towards supporting the local B40 communities who were deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Group’s contributions included the donation of relief packages and food aid to the B40 communities around Lembah Pantai, as well as buka puasa meals and duit raya to spread festive cheer. The Group also piloted a digital marketing workshop for B40 women home entrepreneurs within the Lembah Pantai community, to empower them to succeed in their respective home businesses.
To cultivate more sustainable efforts, the Group has embarked on longer term initiatives, which include empowering NGOs that promote sustainable livelihoods for those with disabilities. During the year, the Group supported the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor & Federal Territory (“SCAS&FT”) by contributing to the construction of Sunshine Cafeteria. The cafeteria aims to provide a safe space where those with cerebral palsy can develop skillsets in hospitality and build their confidence to seek employment in future. The Group also contributed shopping vouchers to the students and staff of SCAS&FT to purchase necessities for the school, while providing the students with cerebral palsy an experience of shopping independently.
In line with its focus on the inclusion of Malaysians from all walks of life and the empowerment of the differently abled, Touch 'n Go Group has also partnered with Yayasan Gamuda's Enabling Academy to hire their graduates who are on the autism spectrum. Since embarking on this journey in March 2022, the Group has trained 15 of its managers to be equipped as job coaches for Enabling Academy graduates and have successfully hired 4 of the graduates to join Touch 'n Go Group.

However, we are also now supporting longer term initiatives which help improve the socio-economic status of the marginalised through self-sustaining projects which can generate regular income, as well as establish a supportive community network.

The annual Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards is jointly organised by CSR Malaysia publication and the CSR Malaysia Welfare Society, supporting the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry. The Awards honour outstanding corporations in Malaysia that have excelled in the role of change agents in the socio-economic transformation of Malaysia.
