In conjunction with the two day MCY Summit at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) celebrated the local talents for their significant contributions to the nation’s economic growth towards 2050 by awarding them with MCY 2017 Awards.
This MCY 2017 Awards is one of the major highlights from the summit which aim is to provide recognition and incentives to the best products and technologies. The award is also to encourage interest in the commercialization of products.
As of November 31, 2017, a total of 133 local products, and technologies have been identified as commercialized this year. Participation in the awards was open to all forty four agencies who contributed to the MCY Special KPI. In total, there are six categories under MCY Awards 2017, with a total value RM1,000,000. The breakdown of categories, award values, participation, and accreditation is as follows:
This initiative is a part of Malaysia Commercialisation Year and was implemented under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) approach, to propel the nation’s Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) agenda as a driving force towards National Transformation 2050 (TN 50).
YB Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation said “I like to congratulate all winners and express my utmost gratitude to all strategic agencies for cooperating to achieve last year’s Special Key Performance Indicator (KPI). Our ministry will continue to play a significant role in further strengthening the commercialisation ecosystem in Malaysia.”
“MCY is the pioneer program made into a platform for joint usage by various government agencies and industries to work together in commercialising products of research and development results. This commercialisation ecosystem comprises of policies, research and development, investment options and commercialization interventions. This can be achieved through synergistic approach of the MCY program which combines six elements namely, 1Promotional Campaign, 1Stop Center, Capacity Building Programs, Industry Engagement, Shared Key Performance Indicators or KPIs and Information Services,” he said.
