Kuala Lumpur, 29 March 2022 – Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) today awarded six charities a total of RM250,125 arising from the Zakat Wakalah returned by the Pusat Pungutan Zakat (“PPZ”). These charities were selected based on the Zakat Wakalah Distribution Guideline where applicants must meet the criteria set by PPZ, as well as the eight conditions set to be declared as “Asnaf”. A total of six charities were selected, out of twenty applicants who applied for the disbursement, which will use the fund for activities benefiting the unfortunate.
Among those selected are charities involved in upskilling marginalised or displaced communities, flood relief activities and agriculture entrepreneurship. The Exchange also set additional criteria where the applicants should focus on high impact projects aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
