Sime Darby Property Berhad ("Sime Darby Property" or the "Company") is pleased to champion arts and culture as an integral component of sustainable urban development. Sime Darby Property highlights the intersection of artistic expression, sustainability, and innovative urban design within the City of Elmina, enhancing both community spaces and resident experiences.
At the core of this township is the expansive 300-acre Elmina Central Park, which features six thematic parks, including community, urban, forest, arts and cultural, sports, and wildlife parks. These thematic spaces are linked by a 5 km urban biodiversity corridor that allows wildlife to move freely between natural areas, supporting ecological balance and reflecting the Company’s commitment to sustainable, harmonious living.
In line with Sime Darby Property’s purpose of being a Value Multiplier, the Company is set to launch the Elmina Outdoor Sculpture Museum. As Malaysia’s first outdoor sculpture museum of regional and international significance, Elmina Outdoor Sculpture Museum serves as a platform to promote Malaysian contemporary artists and, in the future, aims to feature regional and global talent, further establishing Elmina as a hub for global arts and culture.
Sime Darby Property Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Datuk Lai Shu Wei said, “Sime Darby Property is committed to creating vibrant communities that thrive on creativity, culture, and a deep connection with nature. Through our collaboration with local artists, we are redefining how urban spaces can inspire and sustain life. We believe in the power of art to transform environments, bring people together, and connect us to the natural world, and we invite everyone to experience this firsthand.”
This emphasis on public art and sustainability is extended beyond Elmina Central Park to the Company's booth at CIMB Artober Art & Soul 2024, titled 'Where Creativity Meets Sustainability.' Visitors can explore an immersive experience that celebrates the fusion of creativity and eco conscious design.
The booth showcases collaborative works between artists Raja Malek and Luqman Hannan in collaboration with Furniture & Choice Malaysia, featuring innovative furniture made from upcycled denim. Drawing inspiration from the City of Elmina logo and the iconic Elmina Dragon Bridge, the booth underscores the beauty of upcycling by transforming discarded materials into valuable pieces of art, truly turning "trash into treasure".
Central to the booth experience is a replica of the white-bellied sea-eagle sculpture, providing a tangible connection to the public art featured at Elmina. Crafted entirely from plastic water bottles, the sculpture symbolises both resilience and the majesty of Malaysia’s largest raptor, capturing how creativity can drive sustainability.
Visitors are invited to experience the Sime Darby Property booth, located near the main stage at CIMB Artober Art & Soul 2024, to be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily from 25 to 27 October 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (“MITEC”).
