Saladplate and Food Market Hub Announce Partnership to Enable Local F&B Businesses Source Products and Expand Globally, Digitally

Kuala Lumpur, 4 October 2021 – Saladplate and Food Market Hub (FMH) has signed an MOU to offer a platform that will provide Malaysian F&B businesses the possibility to explore new opportunities by connecting to a globalised database from over 90 countries, for either sourcing of products they need to selling their supplies to a globalised network on a digital marketplace. 

Helping Businesses to Brave Through the Pandemic

As Malaysia continues combat the pandemic, F&B businesses in Malaysia remains impacted by the consecutive numbers of lockdowns and reduced patronage. According to a report by the Asian Development Bank, the food supply chain has been disrupted by domestic lockdowns and international port closures. Not only that, food prices have also increased by 7.5% in December 2020, according to the FAO Food Price Index.

Attacks Surge in 1H 2021 as Trend Micro Blocks 41 Billion Cyber Threats

KUALA LUMPUR, October 4, 2021 – Global cybersecurity leader Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704) announced today that it blocked 40.9 billion email threats, malicious files, and malicious URLs for customers in the first half of 2021, a 47% year-on-year increase.

In Malaysia specifically, Trend Micro found that: 

  • A total of 232,701,368 attacks were blocked the first half of the year. 
  • Over half consisted of email threats at 145,947,167, which registered an increase of 24% from 1H 2020.  
  • The number of detected malware increased by 160% from 1H 2020 to 6,604,199.
