The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated an already constrained cyber security workforce supply and increased exposure to cyber attacks. With cyber criminals exploiting the escalating uncertainty and sudden switch to work from home platforms, the need for skilled cyber security professionals is more crucial than ever.
Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that there will be 3.5 million unfilled cyber security jobs globally by 2021, a 350% increase over 8 year period. The 2019 (ISC)² Cybersecurity Workforce Study pointed to a severe shortage of cybersecurity professionals to the tune of 4.07 million among 11 major economies including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Australia, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and South Korea. Of the total shortfall, Asia Pacific has the lion’s share of 2.15 million or 64%.
PENANG, Malaysia, 17 November, 2020 – FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced its new Batu Kawan station. The one-stop logistics facility in Penang, provides customers with extended connectivity to both land and air networks from the northern region of Malaysia to the world. The station is the second largest in in the area for FedEx which strengthens the company’s logistics network within the Northern Region of the country.
This facility is more than twice the size of its previous station location in Bayan Lepas and will benefit businesses aiming to expand across borders beyond Malaysia. The facility’s dedicated bonded warehouse space has a capacity of 1,951 square meters (21,000 square feet) that will greatly benefit customers who require domestic holding services for goods yet to be cleared by customs. At 3,902 square meters (42,000 square feet), this integrated warehouse and sorting facility is capable of handling up to 3,000 packages per hour.
Kuala Lumpur, 17 November 2020 – Mednefits, an employee medical benefits platform, today announced the raise of RM24 million (SGD8 million) in its Series A funding round, led by BLoyalty Sdn Bhd, owner-operator of B Infinite, a digital engagement platform that serves merchants from various industries and businesses. B-Infinite will also work with Mednefits to enhance and automate the medical benefits for its clients’ employees across Malaysia, amounting to RM55 million by 2021.
Mednefits connects companies and their employees directly to medical providers, through its platform that tracks and processes employees’ claims in real-time, thereby offering automated, affordable and accessible healthcare. To date, Mednefits has connected over 50,000 employees from 500 companies in Singapore and Malaysia — including 7-Eleven, Fish & Co, and ViewQwest — to over 2,000 healthcare providers.
