TAIWAN EXPO 2025 in Malaysia Generated Business Opportunities Worth USD 88 Million

TAIWAN EXPO 2025 in Malaysia

Generated Business Opportunities Worth USD 88 Million

TAIWAN EXPO 2025 in Malaysia successfully concluded on June 25th at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This year’s event was themed “Empowering the Next Era” and showcased Taiwan’s cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions, and vibrant culture across key sectors including smart manufacturing, health and wellness, sustainability, as well as culture and tourism. The three-day expo attracted more than 14,000 visitors and generated business opportunities valued at USD 88 million, highlighting the strong momentum in the deepening industrial collaboration between Taiwan and Malaysia.

Zones featuring AI innovation were some of the biggest hits of the event and clearly showcased Taiwan’s forward-looking AI industrial capabilities and integrated applications. Key exhibits include Nuwa Robotics’ dual-screen advertising service robot, Collibot, which was designed for use in shopping malls, education, healthcare and services sectors. Collibot served as a guide during the exhibition and visitors interacted with the robot via voice or touch panel and received real-time directions to help them navigate the event hall. It drew keen interest from several Malaysian shopping centres and medical institutions, highlighting the practical potential of AI service robots in societies facing aging populations and labour shortages. Touché solutions presented its groundbreaking “T-Skin” technology, which enhances safety during human-robot interactions. The innovation received high praise from Industry 4.0 and smart factory sectors and even attracted representatives from the Malaysian government who expressed interest in promoting the technology in local manufacturing through supportive policies.

In the green sustainability sector, Hsing Chung Molded Pulp stood out with its eco-friendly packaging solutions made from molded pulp. This sustainable product underscored the immense market opportunities in the green market and drew the interest of several Malaysian food distributors. Foremost Champion showcased innovative materials such as pineapple fiber leather and windshield adhesive film leather which caught the attention of Malaysian agricultural and recycling industries.  Many local pineapple plantations and recycling companies acknowledged that they are struggling to handle the glut of agricultural waste and had expressed strong interest in Taiwan’s technologies that upcycle such waste into high-value materials. They hope to establish cross-border collaborations in technology and raw material supply to jointly build a sustainable agricultural waste value chain. Flexwave presented its high-efficiency energy storage system along with its weather-resistant arc solar box and solar-navi system designed to power outdoor IoT devices. The solutions attracted many buyers in the clean energy and smart agriculture sectors.

As for the health and wellness sector, newcomer Trida IGIBAN made a strong debut with its artificial skin and wound dressings. The product attracted collaboration interest from YSP Industries and a well-known Malaysian pharmacy and personal care retail chain. Many visitors also inquired about purchasing channels for the various other products showcased in the exhibition. China Medical University Hospital (Taiwan) is exploring potential collaboration with KL Wellness City as it aims to introduce Taiwan’s smart hospital management expertise and facilitate medical data analysis exchanges.

Over the years, TAIWAN EXPO — organized by the International Trade Administration and executed by TAITRA— has proved itself to be a vital platform for economic and trade cooperation between Malaysia and Taiwan, and this eighth outing is the most successful yet. This year’s exhibition attracted several major Malaysian conglomerates and key buyers, including IOI Group (one of Malaysia’s top 10 business conglomerates in Malaysia), SP Setia (Malaysia’s top three property developer), BP Healthcare Group, and the renowned retail chain Caring Pharmacy. Buyers expressed great interest in the numerous AI applications on display and were particularly impressed by Taiwan’s green technologies and energy-efficient building materials and equipment.

To further promote Taiwan’s AI capabilities, the second day of the Expo featured the “Smart Upgrade: Taiwan AI Technology & Application Seminar,” where 11 leading AI companies presented innovative applications in smart manufacturing, digital finance, facial recognition, robotics, and healthcare. The seminar attracted over 120 professional buyers which led to many sessions of business networking and collaboration.

Through this year’s Expo, Malaysia and Taiwan have managed to strengthen their ties in technology application, industrial innovation, and cultural exchange which further reinforced Taiwan’s key role in the ASEAN market. TAIWAN EXPO 2025 in Malaysia has once again highlighted Taiwan’s global leadership position in technology and sustainable development.

In a significant step toward advancing digital transformation and cloud innovation in Southeast Asia, Exabytes announced the launch of its Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) in Penang, developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Forward College. The initiative is designed to cultivate AWS cloud expertise, accelerate digitalisation for businesses, and develop a future-ready workforce across Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Strategically located in Penang—widely recognised as the “Silicon Valley” of Malaysia—the CCoE will serve as a regional innovation hub, helping businesses scale with AWS technologies while nurturing a strong pipeline of cloud talent in partnership with leading educational institutions. With 64% of Malaysian organizations grappling with moderate to extreme skill shortages, especially in intermediate-level roles, this initiative comes in as a timely solution.

“This launch marks a key milestone in our mission to help businesses across the region GROW Digital, while building future-ready tech talent,” said Chan Kee Siak, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Exabytes. “By working closely with AWS and Forward College, we are addressing two pressing needs: accelerating cloud adoption and enabling more young people—particularly those from underserved communities—to access high-value digital careers.”

As part of its broader commitment to inclusive growth, Exabytes is also supporting 20 B40 students with sponsored tertiary education through its collaboration with Forward College. Upon graduation, Exabytes is committed to offering three years of employment within the Exabytes Group of Companies—creating tangible pathways from education to economic mobility.

Beyond talent development, the CCoE is envisioned as a collaborative ecosystem—a space for AWS experts, startups, educators, and businesses to exchange ideas, co-create solutions, and drive innovation together. Through community-building initiatives, cloud solution showcases, and training events, the CCoE aims to foster a culture of experimentation and shared digital progress.

As part of its future roadmap, Exabytes will host industry events under the CCoE banner across Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Indonesia. These gatherings will bring together solution providers and industry experts to showcase cloud innovation and strengthen the ASEAN cloud community. Additionally, Exabytes plans to deliver Agentic AI solutions through the CCoE—designed to enhance productivity in key industries throughout the region.

As we continue to scale digitally, the support and guidance we receive from Exabytes—powered by AWS—has been instrumental in helping us navigate cloud adoption more confidently and cost-effectively. We're excited to see how this initiative will further accelerate innovation and knowledge-sharing in the region.”

Besides, Hasnol Hashim, Chief Technology Officer of Bizapp Ventures Sdn Bhd, and a user of Exabytes’ AWS cloud solutions, remarked: “Exabytes’ Cloud Centre of Excellence is a welcome addition for growing businesses. Their AWS-backed support has been invaluable in streamlining our cloud adoption, making it both efficient and affordable. We’re excited to witness how this center will enhance innovation and knowledge exchange in the industry.”
