CIMB receives approval to operate a bank branch in the Philippines 

CIMB Group announced that its subsidiary, CIMB Bank Berhad has received approval from the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to operate a branch in the Republic of the Philippines. The first retail branch is expected to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2018. 

Following the banking sector liberalisation in 2014, CIMB Bank is the first Malaysian banking group to be granted BSP’s approval to operate under Republic Act No. 10641, an act that allows the entry of foreign banks into the Philippines through the establishment of wholly-owned operations with full banking authority.

MyHSR Corporation to Appoint Firm for Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Work

MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (‘MyHSR Corp’) will call for a tender to appoint the Social Impact Assessment (‘SIA’) consultant for the Kuala Lumpur - Singapore High Speed Rail (‘KL-SG HSR’) project on 17 November 2017. The appointed consultant will be required to complete an independent assessment on the social and land use impact arising from the implementation of the KL-SG HSR project within Malaysia.

The SIA study, a requirement under the Town and Country Plan Act 1976 (Act 172) for government mega projects, aims to determine and analyse the social and land use impact arising from the three (3) stages of the KL-SG HSR project development, which are pre-construction (planning and design), construction and operations. The consultants are also required to identify effective mitigation measures for implementation.

MITI, MIDA and CIDB Launch IBS & Building Materials Supply Chain 2017/2018 Directory 

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Construction Industry Development Board, Malaysia (CIDB) have jointly launched the Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) and Building Materials Supply Chain 2017/2018 Directory (“the Directory”) which, with the contact details of over 4,000 companies and relevant stakeholders acts as a comprehensive point of reference for the construction industry particularly in the area of IBS and building materials. 

Co-developed by MIDA and CIDB, the Directory details industry players in the local building materials space, including those of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, as well relevant stakeholders; thus, capturing the entire ecosystem of local building material players in its catalogue.
