The noble mission of journalists has always been to inform and educate, and that is still true. This role and value has increased significantly since the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic. Risking their lives and health, journalists have placed themselves at the frontlines to provide accurate information for decision makers as well as in helping save lives. Journalists seek transparency and accountability, holding the powers that be to account when wrongdoings occur.
We also acknowledge the growing and essential role journalists play in bringing Huawei Malaysia and the Malaysian community closer together, providing us with different views and helping us to understand our customers and the public, better. The news coverage by the local media will continue to help brands like us navigate our company’s direction. It also provides
us with different perspectives that may have been missed otherwise.
We value the importance of journalists and the media who are always curious, passionate, truthful, and most importantly, always putting the people first in their quest for news. These are valuable traits in today’s society.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all journalists and media practitioners in Malaysia for your contributions, and for the continuous support towards Huawei Malaysia for the past 21 years. We want you to know how much we honour your work and your role in building strong, resilient institutions and societies. We hope you will continue to tell your stories, inspire others with your work and create lasting impressions.
Happy National Journalists’ Day!
MICHAEL YUAN
Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia
